NC State University offers eduroam WiFi, which is a secure wireless network that provides seamless roaming access to the Internet.

Here’s how to connect to eduroam at NC State: Ensure that your device meets the minimum requirements for eduroam, including a working wireless adapter, a WPA2-Enterprise compatible operating system, and up-to-date software and security patches.

  • Supported Devices:
    • Windows XP/Vist/RT/8.1/10
    • Mac OS X (10.5.x – 11.x)
    • Linux
    • iOS (4.x and above)
    • Android (2.x and above)
    • Chromebook
  1. Select the “eduroam” wireless network from the list of available networks on your device. 
  2. If prompted for login credentials, enter your NC State University email address (e.g. “unity-id@ncsu.edu“) as the username, and your Unity ID password as the password.
  3. If you are connecting to eduroam for the first time, your device may prompt you to install a security certificate. 
  4. Follow the below instructions provided to install the certificate. Once the certificate has been installed, you should be able to access the Internet and other 

Certificate Installation

  1. Go to https://wifi.ncsu.edu/eduroam/ 
  2. Select “ENROLL YOUR DEVICE”
  3. You will be redirected to the following page.
    1. Securew2 should identify your device. But you can specify it using the dropdown titled “Select your device:”
  4. Select “JoinNow”
  5. The certificate will download to your device 
  6. Once you open the downloaded certificate, the above window will appear.
  7. Select “next”
  8. You will be redirected to Shibboleth
  9. Login with you NCSU credentials (unity-id and password)
  10. The SecureW2 installation will begin.
  11. Once it is configured, you will be able to connect to the eduroam WiFi

NCSU Wifi (Nomad)

Connecting to NC State University’s ncsu wireless network through Nomad requires the following steps

  1. Make sure your device is in the range of a Nomad access point. 
  2. Turn on the wireless feature on your device. 
  3. Select the “ncsu” network from the list of available wireless networks on your device. 
  4. Enter your Unity ID and password when prompted. 
  5. If prompted, select the type of connection you want to use (e.g. “WPA2 Enterprise”). Once the connection is established, you should be able to access the Internet and other network resources at NC State University. 

To register additional devices, follow the below steps:

  1. Go to https://nomad.ncsu.edu/nmr/dynamic/ 
  2. When prompted, sign in on Shibboleth with your unity-id and password
  3. You will be directed to the Nomad Registration System where you can add a device
