Using AWS AppStream to connect to PCOM Applications
For the best performance and experience please do the following:
- Make sure your browser is updated to latest version
- Information for updating Chrome: https://support.google.com/chrome/answer/95414?hl=en&ref_topic=7437521
- Information for updating Firefox: https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/update-firefox-latest-release
- Close all other tabs while using AWS AppStream
- Make sure you are connected to a stable and fast network
- Go to the following url and authenticate with your UnityID and password: (https://ncsu-portal.awsapps.com/start)
- Click on the PCOM Apps (for Stata, R , Rstudio, and SAS), PCOM Business Analytics Apps (for Power BI, Tableau) or PCOM Development Apps icon (for MySQL WorkBench, MySQL Command Line client, MS Visual Studio).
- Click on the application you would like to run. It may take up to two minutes to prepare the environment and fully load the application.
- Note: ForPowerBI Desktop, if a black screen displays and the PowerBI Desktop app is not loading, click the Launch App button in the top left corner and select PowerBI to open it.
- You can launch other applications and switch between applications by using the Launch App icon and the Switch Window icon; as seen below

- Once you have completed a session, please sign out completely by clicking on the End Session icon below, which is located in the top right corner of your screen.

Connecting to Google Drive or One Drive Storage for saving data
- Click on the following My Files” icon in the upper left menu on the screen.
- Click on Add Storage in the upper right of the window.
- Select Google Drive or OneDrive followed by the @ncsu.edu option.
- You will be prompted to authenticate using the NCSU Shibboleth login.
- Once your storage is connected you will see folders like the following.
